This is the case, for example, of a totally edentulous patient, with a completely resorbed alveolar ridge, and who has been treated again and again in different offices, but has never been able to support prostheses in his mouth because none offers sufficient stability and retention. Here, then, comes the need to adapt the patient prior to the restoration. Increase said ridge! It will then be necessary to use said synthetic filling materials to increase the ridge. Knowing the importance of rehabilitation, we obtain sufficient reasons to justify so many research studies, experiments and clinical situations with their consequent traumas due to the surgical intervention.El objetivo de este trabajo es recopilar muy sistemáticamente una serie de información existente en muchas formas sobre los materiales sintéticos, y entre ellos muy especialmente las hidroxiapatitas, que se usan para el aumento de rebordes alveolares. Es el caso, por ejemplo, de un paciente desdentado total, con un reborde alveolar completamente reabsorbido, y al que una y otra vez han tratado en diferentes consultorios, pero nunca ha podido soportar prótesis en su boca porque ninguna ofrece suficiente estabilidad y retención. Viene aquí, entonces, la necesidad de adecuar al paciente previamente a la restauración. ¡Aumentarle dicho reborde! Será entonces necesaria la utilización de dichos materiales sintéticos de relleno para aumentar el reborde.
