Due to their early presentation, it is essential to diagnose and treat them as early as possible. Therefore, it is important to review the current state of the art diagnostic tools for classifying and treating a patient as Class II. This review provides conceptual reference elements for further study of the topic. This study is useful for students and dentists because it presents, in a practical and simple manner, the state of the art regarding Class II occlusion and the general guidelines for the early diagnosis and treatment of distoclusions in patients with primary or mixed dentition.
