It induces caries in the primary teeth and, in some more severe cases, even leads to the loss of permanent teeth. This is mainly caused by the interaction in the mouth with the microorganism known as "mutans streptococcus." The purpose that motivated the development of this research from its very beginning was primarily aimed at developing a virtual tool for the teaching-learning process on Early Childhood Caries. This tool would be easily used as a novel and effective tool that would complement, structure, and evaluate scientific and technical knowledge on the subject, aimed at healthcare professionals, specifically dentists and students in this field. The virtual teaching and learning tool for Early Childhood Caries, as we have called it, consists of ten thematic units comprised of theoretical research complemented by audiovisual material, making it dynamic and user-friendly. It also includes a self-assessment section and an extensive bibliography, ensuring that this material will serve as an educational aid capable of motivating students to research the topic and, of course, facilitating access to appropriate comprehensive training for the self-learning and updating process.La Caries de la Infancia Temprana se describe como una patología que afecta a niños menores de seis años, que induce la caries de la dentición primaria y en algunos casos más graves, incluso hasta pérdida de la dentición definitiva, causada principalmente por la interacción en la boca del microorganismo denominado “estreptococo mutans" El propósito que alentó, desde su inicio mismo, el desarrollo de la presente investigación, se dirigía principalmente a elaborar una herramienta virtual para el proceso enseñanza-aprendizaje sobre la Caries de la Infancia Temprana, capaz de ser fácilmente utilizado como un instrumento novedoso y eficaz, que permitiera complementar, estructurar y evaluar los conocimientos científicos y técnicos sobre la materia, dirigido a los profesionales del área de la salud y específicamente a odontólogos y estudiantes de esta área. La herramienta para la enseñanza y aprendizaje virtual de Caries de la Infancia Temprana, como le hemos denominado, consta de diez unidades temáticas, que están conformadas por una investigación teórica, complementada por material audiovisual, que le hacen un material dinámico y agradable para el usuario.
