This research originated from the desire to discover the extent of the obstacles we may encounter when a physically and/or intellectually disabled patient arrives at our practice. The study focused on two institutions: the Franklin D’Roosevelt Institute and the INCI (National Institute for the Blind).Los pacientes con impedimento o limitación física y personas con retardo mental, a pesar de que constituyen una minoría dentro de nuestra población, son para el odontólogo general un verdadero desafío que eludimos con frecuencia por simple aprehensión ante la deformación física o por impotencia ante la ignorancia total del tratamiento Esta investigación se originó en la inquietud de averiguar a que tantos obstáculos nos podemos enfrentar cuando a nuestra consulta llega un impedido físico y/o mental.
