The most important thing is to understand the basic conditions necessary for selecting the patient who will receive the graft. The patient must be examined in all aspects, including a dental and medical evaluation, and must be in optimal health. A thorough medical history is the foundation for arriving at a correct diagnosis and, therefore, predicting a favorable prognosis, taking into account numerous factors that will affect the treatment plan. The techniques for using bone grafts are practically the same for all of them, except that each has different handling characteristics.
