Lateral cephalometric radiographs of 130 patients from 8 to 14 years of age were taken from the records of the graduate orthodontic clinic of the university “Colegios de Colombia” of Cali , the vertebral bone maturation stage was determined using the modified method by Baccetti. Cervical bone maturation is an effective method to determine the pubertal growth spurt of the patients, this allows to evaluate the ideal time in which to start orthodontic or orthopedic treatment. The results were that the children presented the pubertal growth spurt in the group of 12 to 14 years of age. Conclusion: The pubertal growth spurt corresponding to the vertebral bone maturation stage (CVS3) in the age group 12 to 14 years is reached first in the girls and then followed by boys. Vertebral bone maturation in children aged 8–14 at the Orthodontics Postgraduate Clinic of the Institución Universitaria Colegios de Colombia (UNICOC), Santiago de Cali campus.text::thesis::bachelor thesisTOCa-0214-10cervical vertebraeAge determination by skeletonOrthodontics preventiveopenAccess
