The aim of this study was to measure of the strength exerted on the elastic band through the Tie Back mechanical in vitro. Methods. 20 acrylic pipes immersed premolars were used. The Tie Back mechanical applied, the length and the maximal strength on the elastic band before breaking were measured. The measured was conducted with a Shimadzu Universal testing Instruments Series AG-IS device. Results. The elastic band average maximal strength before breaking was 17.5 N (1784.5 gr) (DS = 1.6). The elastic band average maximal length before breaking was 10.8 mm (DS= 1.9). Conclusions. The results show that the Tie Back mechanical generates forces into the established ranks to close teeth spaces, which confirms that it is a safe technique.Objetivo: el objetivo de este estudio fue establecer la fuerza ejercida sobre el elástico con la mecánica de Tie Back en un medio In vitro. Método: se usaron 20 premolares inmersos en un cubo de acrílico y se les aplicó la mecánica Tie Back, se midió la longitud y fuerza máxima del elástico antes de romperse. La medición se realizó por medio del aparato de medición Shimadzu Universal Testing Instruments serie AG-IS. Resultados: El promedio de fuerza máxima resistida por el elástico antes de romperse fue de 17.5 N (1784.5 gr) (DS= 1.6), a su vez el promedio de longitud máxima alcanzada antes de la ruptura del elástico es de 10.8mm (DS= 1.9).
