Dental implants are devices inserted into or onto the bone to support artificial dental prostheses. This has become an effective, reliable, and predictable alternative technique for functional and aesthetic restoration. The most important thing is to understand the basic conditions necessary for selecting the patient who will receive the implant. We must evaluate our patient in all aspects, conducting a dental and medical evaluation where the patient must be in optimal health. A thorough medical history is the foundation for arriving at a correct diagnosis and, therefore, predicting a favorable prognosis, taking into account numerous factors that will affect our treatment plan.La implantología dental, consiste en colocar un cuerpo extraño dentro del hueso maxilar, de modo que el implante, establece, una comunicación con el medio bucal y termina soportando una fuerza considerable. Los implantes dentarios, son dispositivos insertados en el interior o sobre el hueso con el fin de sostener prótesis dentarias artificiales, esto ha constituido una técnica alternativa eficaz fiable y predecible para la restauración funcional y estética. Lo principal, es conocer las condiciones básicas necesarias para seleccionar el paciente que recibirá el implante. Debemos evaluar a nuestro paciente en todos los aspectos, hacer una evaluación dental y médica donde nuestro paciente, debe estar en óptimas condiciones.
