Distraction osteogenesis is a treatment alternative because, through the widening, lengthening, and fusion of the palatal processes, repositioning of bone and soft tissue is achieved, restoring much of the patient's oral function and aesthetics. Through a literature review on distraction osteogenesis in patients with cleft palates, this research aims to present a new alternative for patients with this malformation. This alternative consists of creating bone through an osteotomy, which is performed by transferring bone from a healthy segment of adjacent bone, restoring function and aesthetics.Esta investigación fue realizada para indagar y conocer más sobre los a varices en cirugía respecto a la distracción osteogénica en pacientes con hendiduras palatinas, ya que esta malformación produce alteraciones físicas, funcionales y psicológicas especialmente en pacientes que no han recibido tratamiento oportuno de tal manera que se pueda corregir y minimizar su anomalía. La distracción osteogénica es una alternativa de tratamiento ya que por medio del ensanchamiento, alargamiento y unión de los procesos palatinos se obtiene reposicionamiento de tejido óseo y blando devolviendo gran parte de la funcionalidad oral y estética del paciente mediante la revisión bibliográfica sobre la distracción osteogénica en pacientes con hendiduras palatinas se quiere mostrar una nueva alternativa a pacientes que presentan dicha malformación.
