Its potential to act as an auxiliary tool in the decision-making process is described, as well as the ethical and logistical challenges that its management represents. In this way, the normative and substantive approaches necessary to guarantee the adequate and transparent application of the law based on its principles are identified, evaluating in parallel the possible risks that may be incurred when its use becomes inadequate or when it falls into biases and prejudices contained within the programmed systems. All of the above is done in a context of growing interest in the exploration of legal informatics, which contributes to the development and evolution of the law both nationally and internationally.El presente trabajo investigativo examina la relación entre el Derecho y la Inteligencia Artificial (IA) dentro del sistema judicial colombiano, en el cual, se pretende hacer uso permanente de sus componentes dentro de los despachos del país. Se describe su potencial para actuar como una herramienta auxiliar en el proceso de toma de decisiones, así como los desafíos éticos y logísticos que representa su manejo. De esta forma, se identifican los enfoques normativos y sustanciales necesarios para garantizar la aplicación adecuada y transparente del derecho a partir de sus principios, evaluando paralelamente los posibles riesgos en los cuales se pueda incurrir cuando su uso se torna inadecuado o cuando se cae en sesgos y prejuicios contenidos dentro de los sistemas programados.
