After the orthopedic problem is resolved, the teeth are moved to an ideal anatomical and functional occlusion using more sophisticated fixed appliances. W. B. Cannon first used the term homeostasis in 1926. This term indicates a regulatory adaptation that attempts to maintain a state of equilibrium between an organism and its environment. This means that after treatment, a neuromuscular and physiological balance must exist; the teeth must be in harmony with the lips and face. This should be the ultimate goal not only of the treatment of Class II malocclusions but also of all orthopedic and orthodontic treatments.En la actualidad el tratamiento de estas maloclusiones está enfocado en primer lugar a tratar al paciente en etapas tempranas (a finales de la dentición mixta) y a aplicar una combinación de dispositivos ortopédicos removibles tales como el activador, mecanismos extra orales y otros que se pueden utilizar simultáneamente, sucesivamente o por separado según los diagnósticos diferenciales.
