In the present work it aims to publicize the situation in which they find these older adults with respect to their quality of life, which should be represented by a good housing, education, health security through the system for effect handles the state, which may well be within the contributory or subsidized system, psychological, emotional and affection that should receive those around you care as well as the strong support of their own family and the state as a fundamental guardian of public safety. The definition and description of the problem, responsibilities assisting them both to the state and their families, are inescapable responsibilities in the areas of health, recreation and wellbeing of older adults are noted. In this respect some indices studied and analyzed by the Externado University of Colombia, in relation to social security in their pension systems and the difficulty of getting them are recorded, and the increase accelerated gerontes at national level, which in the near future will be established in major public health of older adults with the insecurity of having a health, nutrition and housing conditions worthy of the human person. Justification determines the need for both the state and their families to take responsibility for assisting the elderly in everything related to acceptable quality of life and within the parameters of human rights. Similarly, from a legal point of view, the work is framed within the parameters of the Constitution of Colombia and the laws that have been enacted for this purposeEn Colombia, acceder a la seguridad social tiene determinados costos y trámites que tienen que suplirse de manera no tan expedita, lo cual dificulta a los adultos mayores su accesibilidad, razón por la cual tanto el Estado como las familias desatienden las necesidades de quienes se encuentran en calidad de adultos mayores. En el presente trabajo se pretende dar a conocer la situación en la que se encuentran estos adultos mayores con respecto a su calidad de vida, que debe estar representada por una buena vivienda, educación, seguridad en salud a través del sistema que para el efecto maneja el estado, que bien puede darse dentro del sistema contributivo o subsidiado, su atención psicológica, emocional y de afectividad que deben recibir por quienes le rodean, así como el acompañamiento decidido de sus propios familiares y del Estado como tutor fundamental de la seguridad ciudadana . En la definición y descripción del problema, se anotan las responsabilidades que les asisten tanto al Estado como a sus familiares, responsabilidades que son ineludibles en las áreas de la salud, la recreación y bienestar en general de los adultos mayores. En este aspecto y como referentes bibliográfico, se consignan algunos índices estudiados y analizados por la universidad Externado de Colombia, en relación con la seguridad social en cuanto a sus sistemas pensionales y la dificultad de acceder a ellos, así como el incremento acelerado de Gerontes a nivel nacional, lo cual en un futuro cercano se constituirá en grave problema de salud pública de los adultos mayores ante la inseguridad de poseer una salud, alimentación y vivienda en condiciones dignas al ser humano. La Justificación determina la necesidad de que tanto el Estado como sus familiares asuman la responsabilidad de asistir a los adultos mayores en todo lo relacionado con calidad de vida aceptable y dentro de los parámetros de los derechos del hombre.
