Materials and methods: An experimental study was conducted with first- and second-semester students from the Colombian Dental College, considering the selection criteria. They were divided into groups: group A, 35 students with Powerade; group B, 35 students with Gatorade; group C, 31 students with squash; and group D, 20 students with water. Four saliva samples were collected, and the pH of each sample was measured using a Coming brand digital pH meter at -10, 0, 15, and 30 minutes. Exploratory statistics, Pearson correlation, paired T-test, and analysis of variance were carried out to compare the pH observed with the sports drinks at the different time points. Results: In all four study groups, a significant correlation was found in salivary pH measured at 15 and 30 minutes after consuming the drink was 72.7%, at time -10 it was 49.3%, and at time 0 it was 51.8%. Conclusions: Saliva tends to neutralize the pH within a maximum of 30 minutes after drinking, raising it to a value similar to what it was at the first measurement at -10 minutes. Variation of saliva pH in undergraduate students from the Colombian Dental College before and after consuming sports drinks.text::thesis::bachelor thesisTO 1136pH to salivateCapacity bufferMoisturizing drinksMeasurement of phgatoradeopenAccess
