Dentistry has been closely linked to aesthetics since ancient times; these attempts at dental aesthetics had a strong ornamental bent. (Ruiz, 1990) Dental aesthetics has been a constant concern throughout the years. Having an attractive smile is important, as white teeth have always been considered synonymous with cleanliness, beauty, satisfaction, and health. Because of this, modern dentistry has worked to develop techniques that allow for more aesthetic and favorable results; therefore, various options for procedures and/or treatments are currently available on the market to achieve this goal, such as teeth whitening. (Kugel, 1997) Teeth whitening is a procedure that has revolutionized dentistry and also offers patients a better alternative to improve the appearance of their teeth. (Gonzales, 1999) Repeated scientific research has led to the development of techniques used to perform teeth whitening. Among these techniques is the Power Bleach technique, which consists of a combination of in-office and at-home techniques using hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide.En las puertas hacia el nuevo siglo la estética es hoy en día una referencia de salud que lleva al individuo a cambios significativos de sus hábitos de vida y su comportamiento. (Ruiz, 1990). La odontología ha estado íntimamente ligada a la estética desde la antigüedad; estos intentos de estética dental tenían una fuerte inclinación ornamental. (Ruiz, 1990) La estética dental ha sido una preocupación constante a través de los años, el tener una sonrisa atractiva es importante, pues los dientes blancos siempre han sido considerados sinónimo de limpieza, belleza, satisfacción y salud. Debido a esto la odontología moderna ha trabajado en desarrollar técnicas que permitan resultados más estéticos y favorables; es por eso que actualmente en el mercado se encuentra disponibles diversas posibilidades u opciones de procedimientos y / o tratamientos para lograr tal fin, como el aclaramiento dental. (Kugel, 1997) El blanqueamiento dental es un procedimiento que ha revolucionado la odontología y además ofrece a los pacientes una mejor alternativa para mejorar su el aspecto de sus dientes.
