This approach states that human beings are more than a physical body; they are a balanced energy system, allowing the organism to manifest itself (focal event) in response to any pathological alteration (focus) or harmful stimulus, whether local (interference field) or distant (focal reaction). This discipline uses a detailed clinical history that includes aspects such as patient nutrition, habits, lifestyle, disease history, previous treatments, signs, and symptoms. It also employs a series of tests and methods such as the Huneke test, myokinetic test, Adler test, and bioelectronic measurements that help evaluate the basic regulatory system and provide a broader and more accurate diagnosis. These methods seek to demonstrate how a patient may develop a disease at a distant site originating from the oral cavity without the patient or physician being aware of the relationship due to lack of information. Once the factors affecting the patient's health are identified, efforts are made to restore the individual's normal organic balance (basic therapy), followed by treatment of the cause or irritant and evaluation of the results obtained. The main objective is to achieve a holistic treatment approach for the individual, without overlooking the importance of interdisciplinary care, presenting neurofocal dentistry as a comprehensive dental concept for the new millennium.
