Sometimes it is necessary to order routine tests and, if required, consult with the treating physician, as this ensures higher quality professional care and allows for the control of certain risk factors. For the detection and diagnosis of any type of systemic condition, the signs, symptoms, and clinical presentation are taken into account. Focusing on the risks that these diseases may pose to dental management, the frequency with which they occur in dental practice will be studied.Es frecuente encontrar en la consulta odontológica pacientes que presentan compromiso sistémico, que de igual manera reciben tratamiento farmacológico para su enfermedad; por tanto, esta situación genera nuevas competencias para el manejo y tratamiento de estos pacientes. Algunas veces es necesario mandar algunos exámenes de rutina y, si se requiere, la interconsulta con el médico tratante, ya que esto garantiza una mejor calidad en el trabajo profesional y permite controlar algunos factores de riesgo.
