PROBLEM: Since hemifacial microsomia is a congenital malformation and a relatively uncommon pathology, students are unfamiliar with its management; therefore, it is necessary and important to determine the most appropriate clinical and surgical management. JUSTIFICATION: This study constitutes a bibliographic tool for oral health students regarding the diagnosis, clinical management, and surgical treatment of this pathology, allowing them to become more informed and trained on the subject. METHOD: The study type was a bibliographic review for which electronic databases such as Elsevier, PubMed, and Medline were accessed, along with scientific sources such as the American Academy of Pediatric Dental Surgery, Children's Craniofacial Association, Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal, and Columbia Dental Review. A review of 75 English-language sources and 20 Spanish-language sources was conducted through a bibliographic matrix designed according to the topics addressed in the review: etiology, typology, clinical findings, diagnosis, preoperative evaluation, treatment, surgical management, and postoperative care.OBJETIVO: Realizar una revisión bibliográfica sobre el manejo clínico y quirúrgico de pacientes con los diferentes tipos de microsomía hemifacial. PROBLEMA: Siendo la microsomía hemifacial una malformación congénita y una patología no muy frecuente, los estudiantes desconocen su manejo y, por tanto, se hace necesario e importante determinar el tipo de manejo clínico y quirúrgico más indicado. JUSTIFICACIÓN: Constituye una herramienta bibliográfica para los estudiantes de salud oral en el diagnóstico, manejo clínico y quirúrgico de esta patología, permitiendo que estén más informados y capacitados al respecto. MÉTODO: El tipo de estudio es una revisión bibliográfica para la cual se accedió a bases electrónicas de datos como Elsevier, PubMed o Medline y a fuentes científicas tales como Academia Americana de Cirugía Dental Pediátrica, Children's Craniofacial Association, Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal o Columbia Dental Review.
