A revise of clinic histories were made, were only were available in total 60 patients. 29 were healthy and 31 with cleft lip and cleft palate. This patients were called to the installations of the “club noel” to this patients a clinic revise were made with a explorer and a mirror number 5. a index of dental caries was realized COP and COE-d. after an index of dental plaque of Green and Vermillion was made. These results were attached to a survey applied to the students of these children that it contained 9 items. It was found that the prevalence of dental caries in children with cleft lip and palate is the 92% and in the healthy children was the 90%. To that is repeat of the index of dental plaque on children with cleft lip and cleft palate they had a 25% and the control group of the 17%. There were also was found children with cleft lip and palate that presented teeth with ectopic eruption, in the majority ofthe cases superior permanent lateral or over number teeth were found in the palate. It doesn’t exist big difference between the presents of dental caries in children with cleft lip and palate with the healthy children, in difference of the index of plaque because of it was found that the accumulation in children with cleft lip and palate was lower than the healthy children. The socio-economic status there is no relevance because all belong to the same status.El objetivo principal de este trabajo es determinar y comparar la presencia de caries en niños de 5 a 12 años con y sin labio fisurado y paladar hendido del hospital infantil club Noel de la ciudad de Cali. Se revisaron 60 Niños, 31 con labio fisurado y paladar hendido y 29 niños sin esta patología del hospital club Noel de la ciudad de Cali, se realizó un índice de caries COP y CEOD, índice de placa bacteriana de Green y Vermillion y se aplicó una encuesta sobre hábitos orales y dieta. Se encontró que la presencia de caries en niños con LPH es de 92% y en niños sin LPH fue de 90%. En cuanto al índice de placa los niños con labio y paladar hendido tenían un 25% y el grupo sin LPH fue del de 17%. Se encontró en la mayoría de los niños con LPH, dientes con erupción ectópica de dientes laterales y dientes supernumerarios. La dieta era moderada para ambos grupos.
