Technological advancements now allow for imaging of the craniofacial region using Hamada Cone Beam CT, yielding more precise and reliable results. The growth of the skull base, the size and position of the cervical system, and the hyoid bone influence the morphoggenesis and growth of the maxillofacial complex; all data that leads to a better understanding of the origin and manifestations of malocclusions will allow for a more effective therapeutic approach. Objective: To describe the skull base and craniocervicomandibular system measurements in young patients with Class II Division 1 malocclusion using helical spiral cone beam computed tomography. Materials and Methods: Twenty-four CT scans of young patients with Class II Division 1 malocclusion were performed using the ICAT-VISION® scanner. Linear and angular measurements were taken in the midsagittal slice, and univariate, bivariate, and multivariate principal component analyses were conducted. Results: The only measurement with a statistically significant difference according to gender was SNA, which was higher in men. The SNA-SNB and SNPg measurements were strongly correlated with each other, positively and inversely proportional to the BA-S-N and PO-PMcGregort angles. The inclination of the upper incisor showed an inverse relationship with the cervical measurements. The cranial flexion angle had an inverse relationship with the SNA-SNB and SNPg angles. The craniovertebral angle was decreased in the entire sample, and the variable relating the hyoid bone vertically was independent of the behavior of the other variables. Morphometry of the cranial base and craniocervicomandibular system in young patients with class II division 1 malocclusion using spiral helical tomography.text::thesis::bachelor thesisTOCa-0209-11-TORSkull baseCephalometryClass II malocclusionSpiral computed tomographyCraniomandibular systemopenAccess
