This code is one of the most important tools in criminal and/or civil proceedings in which dentists may become involved, both professionally and personally. Furthermore, it is necessary to explain the implications of not having a written contract with the patient, specifically regarding the proper completion of the patient's medical record. This allows for appropriate action in directly preventing a lawsuit or in defending one once it has been filed. All of this is based on the understanding that the dentist's ethics are humanistic and based on solidarity, grounded in human values.Durante el ejercicio de la profesión odontológica se ve la necesidad de concientizar al profesional sobre el conocimiento y el uso del código de ética, siendo esta una de las armas más importantes en un proceso penal y/o civil por el cual en ciertas circunstancias se ve involucrado como profesional y persona natural.
