Scientific and technological advances in current and future dentistry lead us to study it as a science that protects oral health, and not just as a curative procedure. Thanks to specific protection, the population's perception of dentists is changing. In the past, visiting a dentist meant undergoing aggressive and painful treatments such as tooth extractions. Currently, a timely visit to the dentist should meet the expectations of preventive treatment, thus maintaining optimal oral health.Observando la importancia de la prevención y la necesidad de la población por el mejoramiento de la salud oral y de los servicios ofrecidos a nivel odontológico y servando la cantidad de pacientes atendidos en la clínica de Odontopediatría del Colegio Odontológico Colombiano, decidimos emprender esta investigación que busca obtener datos que sirvan como base para futuras evaluaciones y para el mejoramiento en la presentación de los servicios ofrecidos por la clínica. Los avances científicos y tecnológicos que abordan la odontología actual y futurista nos llevan al estudio de esta como una ciencia protectora de la salud oral, y no solo como un procedimiento curativo. Gracias a la protección específica se le da vuelta al concepto de la población acerca de los odontólogos, donde tiempos atrás visitar a un odontólogo era someterse a tratamientos agresivos y dolorosos como las extracciones dentales.
