The risk of HIV transmission during dental practice has become of particular interest both for professionals and for the general public. For this reason, priority programs and biosafety manuals have been implemented in dental practice, promoting changes in attitude and behavior among dentists, as well as a preventive, comprehensive approach to patient management. This research, based on the current reality of HIV/AIDS in pediatric care, aims to gather sufficient and necessary information to enable the pediatric dentist to understand the importance of prevention in seropositive and AIDS patients, both in diagnosis and timely treatment, as well as to improve the quality of life of these patients. Prompt attention and preventive measures will help prevent and control other types of diseases related to the progression of AIDS. The standardization of guidelines implemented in this research will assist in the management of these opportunistic diseases. El riesgo de transmisión del SIDA durante la práctica odontológica ha cobrado especial interés tanto en los profesionales como en el público en general, razón por la cual se han implementado programas prioritarios de manuales de bioseguridad en la práctica odontológica que promueven cambios de actitud y conducta entre los odontólogos, y un estilo de trabajo en el manejo preventive integral del paciente. La presente investigación, basada en la realidad que hoy se vive con el VIH - SIDA en pediatría intenta reunir la información suficiente y necesaria que permita al odontopediatra conocer la importancia de la prevención en el paciente cero positivo y paciente con SIDA, tanto en el diagnóstico como en el tratamiento oportuno, así como mejorar calidad de vida de dichos pacientes. La rápida atención y prevención ayudaran a prevenir y controlar otro tipo de enfermedades relacionadas con el proceso del SIDA.
