Therefore, for us as general dentists, it is very important to know what work we can do within the group of professionals who must care for these patients. Because this malformation causes many psychological problems in the patient, we cannot limit ourselves to treating them only in the oral area but also provide psychological and moral support for their complete rehabilitation. In this monograph, I intend to provide general guidelines for the treatment of these patients, starting with a clear understanding of why it occurs, its causes, the surgeries performed, and orthodontics as the final step to completely restore the patient's function and aesthetics. To clearly summarize the most important aspects of cleft lip and palate, such as its etiology, embryology, and the surgical and orthodontic treatments necessary to achieve a complete and satisfactory restoration of the patient's function and aesthetics.El labio y paladar fisurados son una malformación que produce defecto físico y funcional en la persona que la presenta, por tanto, para nosotros como odontólogos generales es muy importante saber que trabajo podemos desarrollar dentro del grupo de profesionales que deben atender a dichos pacientes. Debido a que esta malformación produce muchos problemas Psicológicos en el paciente, no nos podemos limitar solo a atenderlos en la parte oral sino ser un apoyo Psicológico y moral para la rehabilitación total de dichos pacientes.
