Within the Americas, the creation of the OAS established a system of protection comprised of: i) the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR): a quasi-judicial body responsible for promoting the observance and defense of human rights and serving as an advisory body; ii) the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACtHR): a judicial body responsible for assigning international responsibility to States Parties for violations of human rights enshrined in the American Convention on Human Rights (ACHR); and iii) the American Convention on Human Rights (ACHR): a treaty that establishes the international obligations of States Parties to guarantee, respect, and implement human rights and freedoms. Alleged violations can be brought before the IACHR through a complaint procedure, and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) determines admissibility and jurisdiction, and also hears substantive cases.Las devastadoras consecuencias de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, incentivaron la consecución de un sistema de protección de derechos y libertades de carácter internacional. Dentro del continente americano, mediante la creación de la OEA se instituyó un sistema de protección con la i) Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos “CIDH”: órgano cuasi-judicial encargado de promover la observancia y defensa de los derechos humanos y servir como órgano consultivo; ii) Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos “Corte IDH”: órgano judicial encargado de atribuir responsabilidad internacional a los Estados Parte por la violación de derechos Humanos consagrados en la CADH; y iii) Convención Americana sobre Derechos Humanos CADH: tratado que instaura las obligaciones internacionales de los Estados Parte de garantía, respeto y adecuación así como derechos y libertades.
