The clinical, radiographic and histological behavior in patients with chronic apical periodontitis, treated surgically, with and without a barrier, has not been evaluated, therefore there is a lack of knowledge in human patients with this diagnosis that can define the type and quality of periapical tissue healing that occurs when a barrier is used to create selectivity of osteoid cells, and thus provide the endodontist with a treatment alternative that can contribute to better and faster healing.La periodontitis apical cronica, entidad patologica asociada a dientes con diagnostico de necrosis pulpar, que ha prevalecido por largo tiempo, por lo tanto no responde a estimulos termicos o electricos, pero si presenta dolor a la palpation en la zona perirradicular y puede o no presentar dolor a la percusion; radiograficamente hay areas radiolucidas localizadas alrededor del apice radicular, involucrando dependiendo de la extension ligamento periodontal, lamina dura y cortical dsea.
