Materials and Methods: A participatory qualitative study was conducted, including 11 caregivers from the institution (Family Welfare Institute) who were employed during the 2010 school year. The variables considered were age, sex, educational level, and knowledge of oral health, including topics such as caries, plaque, oral hygiene, fluoridation, nutritious diet, oral habits, and dental visits. The study focused on oral health management through focus groups. The research was classified as low risk according to Resolution 8430 of 1993 from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Colombia. Results: The caregivers, all women, aged between 22 and 49 years, and mostly university graduates, actively participated in the study. Their interest was demonstrated through active engagement with the topics discussed, with the greatest agreement found regarding dental caries when comparing their responses with the topics presented by the researchers. Conclusions: Although the caregivers' knowledge is not optimal, it is adequate in many of the topics covered; however, further exploration is needed to develop a more comprehensive understanding.Objetivo General: Identificar los conocimientos que tienen los docentes sobre salud bucal del Centro Asistencial Católico Claret Misioneros Claretianos vinculados durante el segundo semestre del 2010. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio cualitativo participativo, incluyendo 11 cuidadores de la institución (Bienestar Familiar) vinculados durante el periodo educativo 2010. Se consideraron las variables edad, sexo, nivel educativo y conocimiento en salud bucal con temas como caries, placa bacteriana, higiene oral, fluorización, dieta nutritiva, hábitos orales, visitas al odontólogo; centrándose en el manejo a través de grupos focales. La investigación fue clasificada sin riesgo según la Resolución 8430 de 1993 del Ministerio de Salud de la República de Colombia. Resultados: Se dio una participación activa de las cuidadoras que en su totalidad fueron mujeres, con edades entre los 22 y 49 años; en su mayoría profesionales universitarias. Su interés se manifestó a través de una percepción activa en los temas que se trataron y obteniendo mayores coincidencias en el tema de caries dental, al comparar las respuestas que estas daban y la temática brindada por las investigadoras.
