These difficulties can occur in young or elderly patients, both dentate and edentulous. They appear in the anterior or posterior regions and in the maxillary or mandibular arches. In the lower arch, they can appear in both the buccal and lingual areas. They affect many disciplines. The problems caused by abnormal frenum attachments affect many disciplines in dentistry, including orthodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics, phonetics, and physiology. Inadequate frenum attachments in the oral cavity should be considered important, as they affect dental treatments aimed at restoring patients' aesthetics and function. This study achieves a brief and complete description of the different surgical techniques for the management of abnormal frenulum insertions in the oral cavity, contributing a helpful tool to obtain better treatment results in the field of dentistry.Los frenillos hipertróficos o mal posicionados presentan frecuentemente problemas en el tratamiento dental. Estas dificultades pueden aparecer en pacientes jóvenes o ancianos, tanto dentados como edéntulos. Aparecen en las regiones anteriores o posteriores y en las arcadas maxilar o mandibular. En la arcada inferior pueden aparecer tanto en las áreas vestibulares como linguales. Afectan a muchas disciplinas. Los problemas causados por las inserciones anómalas de los frenillos afectan a muchas disciplinas en odontología, incluyendo ortodoncia, prostodoncia, periodoncia, fonética y fisiología.
