Materials and methods: The children who participated in the study were enrolled from third to sixth grade and were randomly distributed into two groups. Group A received instruction on the Stillman brushing technique, while Group B received instruction on the Bass brushing technique. Four visits were conducted during which the O’Leary index was applied and reinforcement of each brushing technique was provided to the corresponding group. Results: The average dental plaque index in all schoolchildren, regardless of the brushing technique used, showed a reduction in bacterial plaque levels. Conclusions: It was observed that both brushing techniques are effective in the removal of bacterial plaque, with the Stillman technique being more effective due to its ease of application.
