Very important aspects will be included such as the properties of each biomaterial since I consider them essential to make good use of them. If we completely master the subject we are sure of the true indications and thus restore our patients in the best way. The techniques to carry out the restoration is another topic that is expanded, since the high rate of failures is attributed to lack of knowledge or misuse. Therefore, we can make poor quality fillings with the best material if these are not applied correctly.El presente trabajo contiene una revisión bibliográfica acerca de dos biomateriales para la estauraci6n dentaria de uso diario en nuestra practica clínica; son ellos las resinas compuestas y las amalgamas dentales. Se incluirán aspectos de gran importancia como son las propiedades de cada biomaterial ya que las considero indispensables para realizar un buen uso de ellos. Si dominamos completamente el tema estamos seguros de las verdaderas indicaciones y así restaurar de la mejor manera a nuestros pacientes. Las técnicas para elaborarla restauración es otro tema que se amplia, pues a su desconocimiento o mal empleo se le atribuyen el gran índice de fracasos.
