Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted. One hundred and twenty metal-ceramic crowns were observed (64 from undergraduate and 56 from postgraduate students), selected by convenience sampling. Of these, 18 were single crowns from undergraduate students and 16 from postgraduate students; 24 abutments of three-unit fixed partial dentures from undergraduate students and 16 from postgraduate students; and 22 abutments of more than three-unit fixed dentures from undergraduate students and 24 from postgraduate students. Impressions were taken with addition silicone, and the casts were made in Type IV dental plaster. The dies were cut and the finish line was cleared. Measurements were taken using a stereomicroscope at 40x magnification. The study variables included marginal adaptation, level of training, and number of teeth involved. Statistical analysis was performed using means, standard deviation, frequency distribution, percentages, and ANOVA. Results: Of the 120 crowns evaluated, 100% presented marginal maladaptation, of which 53.3% were from undergraduate and 46.6% from postgraduate studies. Conclusions: There is no significant difference in the marginal adaptation of individual crowns versus cemented fixed partial denture abutments in the undergraduate or postgraduate clinics of the COC.
