With this philosophy, no concern is expressed, nor is any effort made to understand the causes of the patient's problems or to prevent their recurrence. According to this philosophy, it makes no sense for a patient to come to the office without having an active oral disease; therefore, there is no reason for them to be there. If we approach the practice from a predominantly preventive perspective, however, this would be the ideal time for a patient to come to the office: they are free of dental disease, and the dental team will make every effort to keep them disease-free for as long as possible. If the patient already has some degree of disease, the dental team will try to restore their dental health as quickly and completely as possible.La práctica de la Odontología ha seguido una filosofía llamada "filosofía restauradora” en la que el paciente viene al odontólogo cuando ya tiene una enfermedad activa; con esta filosofía no se expresa preocupación, ni se hacen esfuerzos por conocer las causas de los problemas del paciente, o para impedir su recurrencia. De acuerdo con esta filosofía, no tiene sentido que un paciente venga al consultorio sin tener una enfermedad bucal activa, por lo tanto, no hay razón para que esté en el consultorio.
