The aim is for the dentist to identify the importance of habits in the development of malocclusions and to make an early diagnosis and avoid these malocclusions. The etiology that leads to functional habits, the alterations that it produces in the different dentitions and other components of the masticatory system will be explained; After each of the diagnoses has been evaluated, the possible treatments will be reviewed and the one that best suits the needs of each patient will be chosen.Este protocolo de hábitos se realiza con el fin de encontrar una ayuda bibliográfica rápida y efectiva referente al tema, ya que en Colombia no se encuentra un protocolo sobre hábitos funcionales. Se pretende que el odontólogo identifique la importancia que tienen los hábitos en el desarrollo de las maloclusiones y se pueda realizar un diagnóstico precoz y evitar estas maloclusiones.
