Endodontic treatments (like treatments in other dental disciplines) are unfortunately not always successful. Even with specialized management and under the best of circumstances, the success rate rarely exceeds 90%. In endodontic therapy, the most frequent failures are overinstrumentation, perforation, overfilling, and lack of apical seal, caused by poor preparation or filling techniques, or aided by the use of inadequate instruments or techniques. The need for new treatment aids that could increase the success rate and, if possible, shorten the endodontic procedure has led to the constant development of both materials and equipment, such as electronically pulsed instruments. Among the devices developed to assist the dentist in performing endodontic treatment, laser is an ideal technique, offering characteristics such as reduced work time and postoperative pain.
