dc.descriptionMedications that have primary effects on the Central Nervous System (CNS) are the most widely used group of pharmacologically active agents. Since the beginning of history, drugs with the ability to influence the mind have been available, and their widespread abuse has become a major social problem for which there are no satisfactory solutions in sight. The advent of potent psychotherapeutic agents in the last two decades has had a dramatic impact on the basic concepts and treatment of mental illness. To gain a deeper understanding of the CNS, its anatomical considerations must be taken into account. From an anatomical standpoint, neurons are organized within various microscopic structures such as the brain, cerebellum, neuraxis, and spinal cord; these, in turn, are divided into neuronal cells (nuclei and fascicles or bundles).
dc.description.abstractLos medicamentos que tienen efectos primarios sobre el Sistema Nerviosos Central (S.N.C.) son el grupo más empleado de agentes farmacológicamente activos. Desde principios de la historia se dispone de fármacos que tienen la facultad de influir en la mente, y su abuso extenso se ha convertido en problema social importante para lo cual no hay a la vista soluciones satisfactorias. El advenimiento de agentes psicoterapéuticos potentes en los dos decenios últimos ha tenido impacto impresionante sobre las nociones básicas y el tratamiento de las enfermedades mentales. Para tener un conocimiento más acerca del S.N.C. se debe tener en cuenta sus consideraciones anatómicas; desde el punto de vista anatómico las neuronas se organizan dentro de diversas estructuras microscópica de la índole de cerebro, cerebelo, neuroeje y médula espinal; esto a su vez se divide en células neuronales (Núcleos, Fascículos o haces).
