Por lo general cuando hablamos de los animales y del medio ambiente, estamos acostumbrados a que el ser humano hace uso de los recursos del planeta sin mesura, algo que ha llevado a que miles de especies se extingan entre muchos otros aspectos negativos.
Pero… Qué pasaría si siguiendo con nuestros hábitos de consumo pudiéramos no solo controlar una plaga, si no, además, ayudar a cientos de especies y varios ecosistemas que se están viendo afectados día a día por culpa de un solo animal… El pez león.
Como tal, el pez león es una especie sensacional, más cuando hablamos de las costas del caribe este animal originario del mar índico se convierte en uno de los mayores riesgos para la flora y fauna del mar caribe, y no solo esto, sino que, además, el comportamiento destructivo de este animal está ocasionando un gran impacto negativo a nivel socio económico en las comunidades que rodean las costas del caribe y que viven, principalmente, de la pesca.
Sin embargo, existe algo que juega a favor de estas comunidades, y es el hecho de que la carne de este animal se puede considerar como una comida gourmet, no solo por su sabor, si no por los beneficios que trae consigo el consumirla.
Por esto, el motivo principal de este proyecto es desarrollar un modelo de negocio en base al consumo de este animal. De esta forma, se les otorgaría a las comunidades pesqueras una nueva fuente de ingresos, a los turistas una nueva experiencia gastronómica, y en un futuro la mejora de la situación que vive actualmente el ecosistema marítimo del mar caribe.

Typically, when we talk about animals and the environment, we're accustomed to the fact that humans use the planet's resources recklessly, something that has led to the extinction of thousands of species, among many other negative consequences.
But... what if, by continuing with our consumption habits, we could not only control a plague, but also help hundreds of species and several ecosystems that are being affected daily by a single animal... the lionfish?
As such, the lionfish is a sensational species, especially when we talk about the Caribbean coasts. This animal, native to the Indian Ocean, becomes one of the greatest risks to the flora and fauna of the Caribbean Sea. Not only that, but the destructive behavior of this animal is causing a major negative socioeconomic impact on the communities surrounding the Caribbean coasts, which make their living primarily from fishing.
However, there is something that works in these communities' favor: the meat of this animal can be considered a gourmet food, not only for its flavor but also for the benefits that come with eating it.
Therefore, the main motivation of this project is to develop a business model based on the consumption of this animal. This would provide fishing communities with a new source of income, tourists with a new gastronomic experience, and, in the future, improve the current situation of the Caribbean marine ecosystem.
